Passive Condominium - Dynamic Simulation as Certification Obligation

Project Summary

Our team was responsible for providing an energy performance certificate for a recently built condominium which passes requirements of a passive house. To issue an energy certificate, we examine the quality and quantity of building structures (exterior walls, ceiling, doors and windows etc.) and the quality of energy equipment. According to the current regulation it is necessary to prove the results by dynamic simulation or detailed static calculation. We chose the first method and issued AA++ (the best) certificate.

Opportunity

In order to exceed the BB energy rating for residential property, need to undertake a complex building simulation to underpin any stronger rating. In this case, the opportunity for the developer was to attract a premium property value for the genuinely energy efficient building and flats within it.

Challenges

We experienced Interoperabilty as a challange between the softwares we use, as we had to import data from the dynamic simulation system to the traditional environment used for energy certification.

Solutions

Purchasing a special module allowed us to transfer data between two different system.
